Sparrow felt her subconscious being pulled into the treacherous fire that ensued. Her hands were becoming weak, and she knew that if she tried too hard to pull herself to safety, the rocks holding her would crumble. The tall man dressed in black stood above her, She knew him as the king's right hand man, but why did he wish to harm her?
Sparrow clung to the last thread of hope as she slipped closer and closer to the bubbling bowl of lava. Her new instincts screamed at her to try to pull herself up, but she knew if she tried that, she would either fall or be attacked by the man. The helpless Cougaran clung tight to the ledge, waiting, for a miracle.
